“I was in a warehouse and in a corner I spotted a packaged work of art ready to be shipped. The label said: FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE. I read and reread that trivial sentence without understanding what was special about it. Then I took a picture. As a matter of fact, a work of art is fragile, like a delicate invisible hem, a fabric made from flax stalks, a dye that fades when washed. Like affections or fleeting exchanges between people who do not know one an other. Like THE PLANET WE INHABIT. We are instinctively led to believe that precious things are fragile, but for me, the exact opposite is true: fragile things are precious.”
